ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Department of Accounting & Finance established in the year 2017. As of now it has the strength of 115 students combined of both I and II Year. The department has a team of eminent staffs who teach specialized area like Accounts and Finance. Faculty employs modern teaching tools to make learning effective.

VISION & MISSION

To help the students to understand the evolution of accounting principles, concepts, methods, conventions, procedures, and rules from the elementary stage to their current development, while equipping them with the necessary skills and abilities for preparing and interpreting financial reports.

  • To enable students to utilize the opportunities emerging in the accounting and finance profession.
  • To stimulate a basic understanding of accounting and finance among students.
  • To impart adequate exposure to operational environment in the field of Accounting and Finance.
  • Moulding students to meet societal needs as financial analysts or chartered accountants who are skilled in proper analysis, sound decision-making, and the effective execution of those decisions.
DEPARTMENT ACTIVITIES
  • On 09/02/2019 Parent teacher meet was conducted. More than 90% of parents attended the meeting. Sister Administrator & Principal address the gathering.
  • On 13/02/2019 Department Function JOSEPH SYNERGY was conducted along with PG Department of commerce. More than 250 Students from 13 colleges were participated.
  • On 25/02/2019 Our Department Conducted a one day seminar on “BUDGET 2019” Department students from 1st and 2nd year actively participated in the seminar and discussed about the pros & corns of the budget 2019.

PSO1Placement : To prepare the students who will demonstrate respectful engagement with others ideas, behaviours, beliefs and apply diverse frames of reference to decisions and action. Further the students are encouraged with add-on value based and job oriented courses which ensure them to sustain in the organisation level.

Student Achievements

  • Students of II year of our department won the 2ND Prize in Paper presentation and awarded cash prize of Rs.1500 in the intercollegiate competition conducted by Hindustan college of Arts and science on 28th August 2018.
  • Students of I year of our department won 2nd prize in Logo designing which was conducted by Margregorios college of Arts and Science on 18th September 2018.
  • Students of our dept participated in various events in the intercollegiate competition conducted by Loyola and Guru Nanak College.
  • KUMARAN from II year done a project on Tidal Energy.
  • On 15/02/2019 Our College Celebrated Sports day. Our Department Student PREETHI 2nd year won 1st prize in Running, POOJA & JENIFER of 1st year won 1st prize in THROW BALL, MANIMARAN of 2nd year won 2nd prize in KABADDI, A. VIGNESH & NISHANTH of 2nd year won 2nd prize in VOLLEY BALL. ANISHA & VENNILA of 2nd year won 1st prize in TENNIKOIT.

  • Geetha B Head of the Department has presented a paper on “A study on Non Performing Assets of banking sector and its impact on Indian economy” in the international conference conducted by Alpha college, porur on 01.03.2019
  • Arjun E faculty member has submitted the paper on “A Study on tank irrigation in Koliyanur Block, Villupuram District” at Thiru.V.KA.Govt. Arts and Science College, Thiruvarur.
