Department of Mathematics

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Department of Mathematics was established in the year 2006 with the B.Sc. Mathematics degree . A team of  well qualified and dedicated faculty members were working in our department. Our department alumni have excelled in verious spheres of life like teaching, research, industry etc. The department offers verious opportunities in education and research with a wide spectrum of areas in Mathematics. Most of our students have been placed in different companies and some of them pursuing their higher studies.

VISION & MISSION

To cultivate innovative thinking, expand mathematical knowledge, and to inspire future leaders through high-quality research, education, and collaborative endeavours.

  • To provide innovative, high-quality teaching that fosters a deep understanding of mathematical concepts and equips students with problem-solving and analytical skills applicable across diverse disciplines
  • To engage students in contributing to the advancement of mathematical knowledge and addressing real-world challenges, while fostering a culture of curiosity and intellectual growth.
  • To nurture students’ personal, intellectual, and ethical development, shaping them into responsible, engaged citizens capable of making meaningful contributions to society and the global community.
DEPARTMENT ACTIVITIES
  • To enrich the students mathematical skills, every year Association meeting is conducted in which students exhibited their talents in various events like Quiz, Paper presentation, drawing competition, face painting, etc.
  • In 2016-17 an Inter departmental function was organized on March, 9th named by Math – Terpieces in which Viscom Department won the overall trophy.
  • In 2017-18 Josephites Math Club was inaugurated as well as conducted intra-department events like paper presentation on August, 30th.Guest lecture was organized by Josephites Math Club on 13.03.2019 at the Muthaiyah Auditorium. Dr. Sathish kumar gave a guest lecture in “Sequence of patterns and Graph theory” to cultivate the students research attitude based on Mathematics
